Personal Shopper Traveling Tips: Fashion, Tech, and More

By EMbellecerte, Claudia Lombardo & Sharon Jane • Jul 13, 2021

Since traveling restrictions have been winding down, visiting your dream destinations has now become more likely than ever. From becoming a constant daydream to a tangible airplane ticket and hotel booking, it is very essential to be prepared as we also face a whole new nearly post-pandemic world. After yearning for new surroundings, EMbellecerte, the mother-daughter personal shopper and stylist duo, is here to help you enjoy your next exquisite getaway, far away adventure, or business trip. When traveling, it has worked for us to create a checklist for all needed items for a tangible way of keeping “quality control” to be able to enjoy every single second of this new expedition. From shopping tips, essential packing ideas, to letting you know about some life-changing gadgets that are out there to make our travels a whole lot easier, more relaxing and oh so fun - here are some of our traveling tips:

  1. Shop Local:

There is nothing more magical than visiting cute boutiques or vibrant farmer’s market-esque fairs to discover some of the most unique clothing and accessories to shop for. Surely to bring local and small business owners a smile, shopping from these charming stores with one-of-a-kind items is a wonderful way to support the passionate owners and their beautiful locales. Given our experience from shopping at the most delightful local boutiques, the gems and treasures you can find in these sorts of stores are priceless. Shopping local means you can also find some bigger chain brands with specialized collections for different regions to accommodate the style and culture of the area, making it a really nice way to explore some more unique designs abroad!

  1. Pack Smart:

Packing smart is very important when it comes to traveling, especially when visiting far away places and going on extended stays. It is always great to observe firsthand what items are necessary in your daily routines, such as pain relievers, deodorant (solid ones are usually more mess-free), toothbrush, toothpaste, hair combs and brushes, voltage converters, skincare regime products, undergarments, documentation, and more to add these to your luggage. As for clothing, depending on the duration of your visit, it is great to add what you need on a daily basis and also consider other aspects for the outfits you choose to bring. Consider the climate and weather that you may expect (and unexpected) during your stay. Layering is usually the best way to go, that way you are prepared for anything! Some ideas of items you can bring include spaghetti strap tops, tank tops or cami tops that you can pair with a thin cardigan, a windbreaker, heavy coat, or raincoat when necessary. When traveling, one can tend to feel a bit bloated or perhaps you have certain food sensitivities, it is always great to pack comfy bottoms like light slacks, stretch jeans or wide n’ fashionable jersey pants. As for tops, it is great to pack tops that you can use interchangeably with the bottoms you pack and never forget to pack the basics - soft cotton t-shirts, long-sleeve sweaters, and perhaps even a relaxed off the shoulder top or sweater. Usually when traveling, it is best to wear the heaviest or bulkiest outerwear to the airport, that way you have more space in your luggage. When packing, it is best to pack your shoes first since they are usually the bulkier items to pack. When packing shoes, it is recommended to place them in shoe pouches to keep your clothes neat and clean. There are beautiful and durable shoe pouches out there, and for some DIY and eco-friendly shoe pouches, you can reuse grocery bags and other pouches you have lying around your house. For an even more fresh-scented luggage, pack your shoes with shoe deodorizers. Once you have your luggage almost set, start preparing your outfit looks that can be easily layered for planes that are either too warm or too cold. Remember to wear no tight-fitting garments and without elastic bands to ensure a comfy travel. It is also recommended to bring comfortable close-toed shoes (sneakers are always the best) that can be easily removed for TSA (when applicable). If you are like many that like to remove their shoes on the plane, there are some wonderful slip-on rubbery sock-like shoes called Skinners that are made especially to be worn on planes.

  1. Do your Research

Regardless of where you travel, it is always best to do your research before traveling. Be aware of places you can eat and buy groceries at especially when you have food allergies or intolerances and pack some snacks just in case. Learn more about the culture, beliefs, business, dining, social and tipping etiquette, and perhaps even learn some key phrases in the language you will be traveling to and regional slang, too, if applicable. There are so many amazing apps out there, too, that help you translate signs or even translate your words to be able to speak to locals from text to voice! When visiting different cultures, it is always so wonderful to learn about the cultures you are visiting for further enhanced traveling experience and also as a sign of respect, one that will surely be appreciated. Researching about safety tips or warning signs that you should be aware of are usually on YouTube is also very important to see before traveling.

  1. Life-Changing Gadgets and Fashionable Details

After you have done the essentials, it should be known that there are many practical, life-changing and fashionable traveling gadgets and gear that can really give you peace of mind while also looking extra stylish. There are non-electric devices that help us to organize our luggage more efficiently and glamorously like designer shoe pouches, sneakers with secret inserts for cash or documents, labeled packing cubes that will save you lots of storing time once you arrive to your destination, compactable multi-sunglasses pack that protect your favorite shades without having to leave any behind, and more. As for electric or battery-powered gadgets, you could opt for portable hotspots from Netgear so you stay connected, transforming luggages that can turn into either a seated hybrid or a driving luggage that follows you around for hands-free traveling, smart watches that serve as translators, health trackers, and more, beach lounge chair safes, and so much more. It’s absolutely astounding the kind of gear you can find that can simplify your travels incredibly while also being functional like keeping your most important items safe.

Some of the trending traveling gear include some of the functional and transitional styles seen in Pre-Fall 2021 collection as well as roomy and easily packable Trunk Luggages (like the ones seen for Balmain), chic gray dust bags that let you know what shoes are inside, Louis Vuitton vintage 1970s monogram shoe bags with matching shoe stuffers, practical cross-body bags, utility styles, comfy strap on sandals, UV-protecting bucket hats and so much more!

We wish you many great adventures, unforgettable memories and safe travels! We hope these traveling tips give you more peace of mind, better sleep on the plane, and the most exciting experience (and shopping) in your next destination. Bon Voyage!

Beauty enthusiasts, get excited: Luxury skincare house La Prairie is making its way to the mountains with the Cobalt Pop-Up, taking place March 8-10, at the base of Aspen Mountain. Those in the mood for a little pampering can make their way to Gondola Plaza to treat themselves to a selection of mini skincare treatments. The 3-day activation is in honor of La Prairie’s new Skin Caviar Eye Lift and the signature cobalt blue packaging. To experience the latest innovation, guests can pop into a gondola where an aesthetician will be offering exclusive eye treatments with the ground-breaking product. Aspen’s dry air has nothing on La Prairie’s incredible range of products, particularly the new Ski Caviar Eye Lift, which works to re-sculpt the appearance of the eye contours. And, at the “Cobalt Chalet” seating area, mini hand massages are sure to help anyone relax from a busy day. As if that wasn't enough of a draw, a fire pit and "Cobalt Cocoa" (The Little Nell’s beloved hot chocolate topped with cobalt blue marshmallows) will ensure you’ll want to stay for a while.
