Arthur uses anywhere from 4 to 15 layers of clear resin between layers of acrylic paint, pigmented inks, and spray paint to show depth, giving a 3D effect.

Arthur Brothers has been a prominent visual artist and a central figure in the Charlotte, NC community for more than a decade. Now distinguished worldwide, he has gained recognition for pioneering his abstract fluid painting technique using the acrylic paints and other chemical agents to create what has become his signature style of visually stunning designs and wildly unique textures. In his figurative works, these unconventional methods are used as bottom layers or the “skins” of his subjects. Brouthers coats more than a dozen sheets of clear resin in between layers of acrylic paint, pigmented inks, and spray paint to create visual depth and a multi-dimensional. 3D effect.

Throughout his career, he has been featured in galleries throughout the US and Europe. In recent years, Brouthers has had solo exhibitions in Charlotte, Gothenburg Sweden, New York City and was a featured artist at New York Art Basel Week’s in Switzerland and Miami. His work has also been highlighted in a number of feature films including Jordan Peele’s seminal breakthrough thriller, Get Out in 2017 and upcoming in Hugh Jackman’s film, Reminiscence.

Arthur created a series of pieces themed The peoples Vaccine. This series is a part of the “Dear Frontline” exhibit at The Brooklyn Collective located in Uptown Charlotte. The show spotlights the courageous and heroic efforts of the frontline workers who have been sacrificing themselves to get us all through the Covid crisis. The bottle used as inspiration was provided by Sarah Francis, an operational leader for Atrium Health’s vaccine distribution.

“I wanted to put a colorful and positive spin on the idea of vaccination. The resin allowed me to create a 3D effect, similar to the bottle itself. Along the layers of intersecting multicolored curvy lines, a new style I developed during quarantine, which represents my twist on the ingredients: Love, Kindness, Empathy, Compassion, Hope, Peace, Happiness, Fortitude, Gratitude, Fulfillment, Immunity, Patience, Optimism, Serotonin, Wisdom and Creativity.” - Arthur Brouthers
